The Iowa
State University Extension has retained Enterprise MidAmerica's affiliate
company, Public Resource Services Corp., to assist the Extension Futuring
Committee in developing a strategic plan for repositioning ISU Extension.
Extension services among U.S. universities all face new demands in how they
serve constituents, what competencies they develop, and how they manage and fund
their enterprises.

Iowa Department of Economic Development
Iowa's economic growth within the New Economy is at the center of a report and comprehensive strategic plan prepared by Enterprise Iowa for the Iowa Department of Economic Development and the Governor's Technology Advisory Network.
Enterprise MidAmerica-through its Enterprise Iowa affiliate-also jump-started the state's Community Attraction and Tourism Development program, providing tourism support services for more than 20 Iowa cities and towns.

Iowa Manufacturing Extension Partnership - Iowa State University
ISU's Iowa Manufacturing Extension Partnership serves as a statewide resource for helping Iowa companies involved in advanced manufacturing and new production technologies. Enterprise MidAmerica is assisting IMEP in developing and implementing a strategic marketing focus.
One recent project
accomplishment was IMEP's collaboration with Cargill
Steel's North Star Steel plant in Wilton Iowa. IMEP, working with Enterprise
MidAmerica, helped the company secure a major
energy research grant through the Department of Energy's Oak
Ridge
National Laboratory in Tennessee.
Another project we created and implemented involved
Y2K preparedness "train the trainer" workshops
for community leaders across Iowa. We also were part of the management team IMEP's first ever E-Business 4 Small Business education and networking conference in Las Vegas.

Iowa Information Technology Department
Enterprise MidAmerica researched and prepared a report for the Iowa ITD on the Digital Divide in Iowa. The report details policy approaches and market factors to be considered as Iowa proceeds toward ensuring access to high-speed data communication for citizens and business throughout Iowa.
We have also served ITD in its multi-year goal of migrating an array of state government services to digital platforms. We researched and
assisted ITD with preparation of the plan for this initiative, called "100% E by 2003." This comprehensive project uses Enterprise MidAmerica's experience and expertise to organize project management systems, develop a customer-centered assessment and evaluation approach, and communicate strategies and achievements to key internal and external constituents throughout the state.

Clarke County Economic Development Corp.
This South-Central Iowa county is home to a diverse business base and qualify of life that's hard to match. Enterprise MidAmerica devised a workforce recruitment and retention plan that focuses on targeted, strategic tools that the Clarke County can furnish its business community to build the employment pool and retain productive workers over the long term.

Iowa Alliance for Advanced Telecommunications
Services
The
Iowa Alliance for Advanced Telecommunications Services was launched in the
2000-2001 fiscal year through an initiative of Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack as a
public/private approach to confront the digital divide in Iowa. The broad goal
is to find ways through research, business and consumer education, and
incentives for investment in high-speed infrastructure, to accelerate the
deployment of and grow demand for high-speed telecommunications services
throughout Iowa.
Enterprise
MidAmerica was retained by the Alliance to facilitate policy discussions and
formation of recommendations among the full Alliance and various
subcommittees. Read the Alliance's first-year report,

Burlington/West Burlington Chamber of Commerce
A redevelopment project to celebrate Burlington's historic role as a 19th century Territorial Capital is the focus of Enterprise MidAmerica's work for this client. We facilitated a series of reviews meetings among area constituencies to determine long-term goals, examine preliminary architectural plans for a replica of the original capitol building, discuss a larger riverfront shopping and entertainment venue to accompany the capitol project and look at fund-raising needs and goals.
Based on the data and direction gathered, Enterprise MidAmerica created a strategic plan for development of the Territorial Capital project, including a feasibility summary, proposed operating budget and business plan.

Iowa Rural Development Council
Enterprise MidAmerica researched and drafted a white paper on "place competitiveness," for the IRDC. The project was the culmination of several months of surveying economic development officials, focus group meetings, and examining published reports provided by IDRC members. The project team also incorporated key findings of Governor Vilsack's Iowa 2010 Strategic Planning Commission.

This
new initiative, launched by a consortium of Carroll County, Iowa business
and governmental groups, is putting together a long-term strategic approach to
workforce attraction and retention for the 21st century. Enterprise MidAmerica
is assisting this group in market research and plan development.
